The truth is, ALL cloistered nuns pray for priests! Their vocation is to sustain the needs of the Church through their hidden life of prayer and sacrifice. This means praying fervently for the holiness of priests, who are meant to stand in the place of Christ on earth as witnesses to his Love poured out for the whole world.

But some cloistered traditions consider it a special part of their charism to pray for priests. Carmelites, for example, pray in a particular way for priests after the example of St. Therese of Lisieux, who had a deep love for the priesthood. Other orders, like the Handmaids of the Precious Blood and the Benedictines of Mary, Queen of Apostles, were founded specifically to offer their lives for the holiness of priests.

As you discern your vocation, if you experience a special desire to pray for priests, you may want to look at some of the communities listed below, who all consider prayer for priests to be a specific aspect of their charism.
